These are the Signed unique original Gouache paintings by Jack Keay.

Emperor Montezuma of the Aztecs liked drinking cocoa so much that his servants brought him fifty cups a day.

The second painting is from the same history of the cocoa trade and the rise in popularity of chocolate. It shows a man planting cocoa beans in Ghana.

Although much cocoa is grown in West Africa the crop didn't reach the mainland from the island of Fernando Po until 1879.

The art was published in Look and Learn issue 697, 24th May 1975. Signed by the artist on the reverse.
