A very regal looking painting by the very talented James E. McConnell for this late Look and Learn cover. Would make an excellent conversation piece.

The Mikado was the ancient name for the Emperor of Japan. Art is signed unusually enough for McConnell, "Mc" in the grass of the duck basket bottom right.

This is the original artwork for cover of Look and Learn issue 999 (2 May 1981).
