This is the unique original Watercolour painting by John Worsley.A large full colour illustration board painted by John Worsley for an entire page of Treasure magazine published July 27th 1970. A letter brings the news of Willie and his sister Weenie having a new baby brother, and their parents coming to visit them on the ship Oriana.
This is a very bold and beautifully painted board, the protagonists both beaming wide eyed with happiness at the good news and the friends awaiting the arrival of the dreamily painted Oriana in it's wash of blues.
Worsley, who spent time in a P.O.W. camp after being captured in Yugoslavia during World War II, achieves a fantastic liberation from the past by painting in such a fluid joyful manner.
Worsley's work can be found in The Imperial War Museum, The Maritime Museum, The collection of HM The Queen, The Savage club and many other private collections including those of Royal Families, banks and Colleges.
